I'm sure that I've done something stupid or I've missed some simple setting, but here's the scenario:
For general purpose use I'm on a laptop running XP. It has just had a trip 'down south' to have its motherboard replaced FOC under warranty. It has now returned and in the process nothing else appears to have altered - the programs and data on the HD are exactly as they were before. All I've had to do so far is to re-calibrate the battery level metering.
Using CEP 1.2a, everything seems normal. I can highlight down to individual cycles and zoom in for accurate editing as I always have done.
Under CEP 2.0, however, I can't highlight very small segments (ready to Zoom to Selection) any more. The highlighting works fine for larger blocks and I can still zoom in horizontally down to individual cycles. I am certan this used to work OK on this machine.
I initially thought this was a display problem - it's an S3 Savage with just 8 megs memory - but all the other display functions seem normal. For example I can still plug in a second monitor and work across 2 screens.
Any suggestions (not to include changing the OS ) anyone?

Have you actually tried changing the display settings at all? I presume that you can still do this under XP, although I wouldn't know... I would have thought that 8Megs of video memory was fine, even with WDM. But I know that with laptops, strange things can sometimes happen with the video displays anyway, never mind how far up the creek you are with operating systems... is there any leeway for altering anything to see if it makes a difference?
And I wouldn't dream of telling you to change the OS! That's far too obvious...

Yes, I've tried the very limited number of options that I have. Basically, these seem to only let me change between 16-bit and 32-bit colour at 1024x768, 60Hz refresh.
I do think I had more options before the machine went away, but in my usual style I can't remember.
I believe I could have tried going back in time to, say 3 months ago, and re-load the installation I had then using this feature of XP. I'm a little nervous of trying this at all, let alone across different motherboards.
*But* I think that I've found the answer. The CEP2 time format was set to SMPTE drop mode. Setting it back to decimal allows me to highlight down to miniscule levels again. Is this a feature??
