There is a great (and free) Ogg Vorbis 1.0 plugin that will add 'file open and save options' to Cool Edit for Ogg Vorbis (.ogg files). It supports the latest 1.0 specification of Vorbis.
The free plugin works with Cool Edit Pro 1.x or 2.0 and also with Cool Edit 2000. A must have for anyone interested in creating or loading an .Ogg audio file.
The Cool Edit Ogg Vorbis plugin can be downloaded from the author's page at:
http://www.btinternet.com/~jfchapman/other.htm
or at http://www.player2001.com and then Click on 'Other Stuff'
I even wrote the author asking him to add support for comment fields to be recognized and saved to Ogg Vorbis files under Cool Edit and he wrote me back and then added the support in a new version he released today (Ver. 1.5).
I highly recommend this Ogg Vorbis plugin/filter. Syntrillium directed me to this filter when I wrote them asking for them to add native Ogg Vorbis (.ogg) support to Cool Edit Pro 2.

Well Zita, I'm sure that woeger is just sitting by his/her computer waiting for a reply... what's it been, only 14 days.

Thank you both for your replies... At least I know someone is reading this post about Ogg Vorbis :)
I had scrolled back to see if anything about Ogg Vorbis had been discussed on this forum for 30+ days but found nothing, that's why I wanted to let other Cool Edit/Cool Edit Pro users about this wonderful plugin that I had found, plus about the new release that was just released (when I posted the original post in this thread) adding support for the various ID fields in the .OGG file format.
I wish Cool Edit Pro natively had support for Ogg Vorbis 1.0 format files right out of the box (on the File Opn and File Save screens under file types), but this plug-in is the next best thing.
Thanks for your reply though.

One question I forgot to ask in my previous post:
Has anyone done any tests personally between MP3, MP3Pro and Ogg Vorbis to test quality at similar bitrates between the various formats? I wanted to see if anyone who is using Cool Edit Pro 2.0 with the Ogg Vorbis plug-in has done any tests to confirm or deny Vorbis' claim that it has the best quality when compared to other formats at similar bitrates.
Thanks,
Adam
