I just received my tickets in the mail yesterday for Dream Theater in Chicago, March 16th.
=)>~~ I had to tell somebody that would understand, lol. I haven't seen them since '94, so hearing Jordan R. the first time live(in person) will be treat unto itself. Got backstage passes too Wink

cheers,

Z.

You know they just came out with a new double-CD, don't you?

Thanks for the tip, Zombie! They're actually coming to Phoenix in early March and unfortunately I won't be able to see them! :(

However, I was fortunate enough hear (and stand within 3 feet of) Jordan Rudess in the Kurzweil demo room last year at NAMM. That was actually my third time seeing him (in that capacity) and still, I was mesmerized!

I met Mike Portnoy at one of his drum clinics in St. Louis in 98. It was really cool. Drums/Percussion is really my strongest area, I've been at that for 11 years. I've only been playing/learning keyboards for a little over 3. My playing skills with keyboards leave quite a bit to be desired, but that doesn't make a huge amount of trouble when ya write music in sections, and if I can't play it, I can sure as hell 'MIDI' it Wink It's almost as much fun tweaking note levels and postions and whatnot for realism as it is playing the stuff. Then again, I'm the same way with synthetic drum programming... And I can, when I'm practiced up and loose(haven't played my drums in a while), play about 85% of the Dream Theater library(of course copying/playing is one thing, coming up with all that crazy stuff to begin with is a different animal entirely =)

I also met Portnoy at a clinic. It was in Vancouver BC. Nice guy.

Yeah, he's a hell of a nice guy, especially for someone that will most likely get top progressive drummer and/or Recorded Performance polls in Modern Drummer magazine for the 8th straight year...
