I have a really big problem with cool edit pro 2.1. Every time I try to insert time in a multitrack session i'm editing the program crashes! The said session is a very complicated one, spanning about 10 tracks and contains probably over 200 seperate blocks. Therefore it is impossible for me to simply drag and drop if I want to move some blocks to the right. However, whenever I use the insert time command at the moment, it comes up with an error and the program closes. Sometimes if I go away and do something elsewhere in the session and come back to it, it works but at the mo, I can't seem to insert time anywhere! If anyone knows why this is happening and a possible solution, i'd be very grateful for your help!
My specs are:
Windows XP SP1
Athlon XP 1600+
512Mb RAM
Sound Blaster Live! Platinum 5.1

I can only say it works for me.
Have you tried this operation using a single waveform on one track? If so, what happens then?

If I use the command in any other session it works fine. I reckon it is possible the session file has become corrupt. Either that or cool edit just can't handle the complexity! Either way, I may have thought of a solution to my problem. (If anyone has a better solution please let me know though!) I'm going to mix down each track one by one and recreate the session using these new files. I hope this works!

I think you're probably on the right track and the session file has become corrupted - I presume you have laready tried saving it under a different filename?
I doubt if it's simply due to complexity - there seems to be plenty of users here who rum jobs equally, or more, complex without this troubling them.
I'm not sure what you mean by mixing each track - since by definition, there's nothing to mix on a single track - but I am sure we'll all be waiting to see how this works out for you.

Yeah I tried saving it under a different file name. On each track are various blocks some from various files so what I will do is mix down a single track into a new file so although no mixing will be done, the order, timing and volume points will be preserved. Then reloading each new file into a new session should hopefully solve my problem. Will post here to say if it worked or not!

I've finally found my problem! I reinstalled CEP 2.0 rather than 2.1 and the problems have ceased! I don't know if this is just my computer or a more serious bug in CEP 2.1 but my problems have disappeared!
Thanks for you're help!

I can't claim to have helped very much, but at least you're up and running again.
Maybe you should talk direct to the Syntrillium help deak about this, since it certainly doesn't sound right. CEP2.1 is much better than 2.0 was and showed several marked improvements.

Yes, I am very curious about this problem as well...
cstosgale, I'd really like to look into this problem. I'll drop you an email right now, but if you don't get it, please send me an email so we can investigate this.
