I need some help with cool edit. I'm trying to rip a file from an audio CD and stick it in multitrack. For some reason, no matter what I do that would logically do that, it doesn't work. I have the file converted to .wav and it shows up in the track listing, but the drag and drop isn't working on it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What happens when you use "Insert > Wave from file" in the multitrack view?

Are you using 2.0 or 2.1?

Had the same problem before as a side effect when trying to Burn a CD with the Beta software. It also would not rip a CD. Turned out that I needed a newer driver from Adaptec to support the CD drive. Once installed, the rip CD started to work as well. Be sure to seem some of the earlier threads re: CEP CD Burn Beta. Note that the very latest driver doesn't work from Adaptec. You have to go back a revision level.

When I insert>wave from file, the file shows up in the box to the left of the screen under the tabs for files, effects, and favorites. But when I try to drag and drop it into the multitrack, it doesn't work. Any suggestions. This is a Downloaded copy of 2.1 from Syntrillium.

Skip MT for a minute. Can you open the file in Edit View? ... not dragging and dropping, just open the file the regular old fashioned way.

You could always "extract" the file from the CD to the harddrive and then use the insert function.
