Ok. So I finally did it! I had an Echo Mia installed yesterday - very exciting - and I know it's barely been one day, but I've already reveiwed much of the manual and am psychologically prepared for tweaking...
Here's my dillemma: I'm getting a really low (analog) input signal and can't figure out why. Sound is going into the mic, then preamp, then into the card. Worked fine before like that with the Soundblaster card. I have volume controls on the preamp and they are at pretty high levels.
I should mention, nothing is muted on the Echo console, checked the properties, argh. Anyone out there have any ideas?

So what is the input attenuator set to? +4dBu or -10dBv? If you are experiencing a low input signal problem, it should be set to -10dBv - this is the more sensitive 'domestic' setting.
But how low is 'really low'? What does the input level typically peak at in CEP?

The input level was barely audible. I went out today and got a Yamaha MG 10/2 mixer (amazing price $130 CAN) because I thought this may be a factor in my problem, plus I know I should be going through a mixer at this point, and now......there is no signal at all.
Tried out different chords. I knew there was a learning curve, but this is getting a bit much. One tech at the music store says that Windows ME doesn't like two soundcards and perhaps I need to remove the Soundblaster completely.

Hi Steve,
Just got it running. Firstly, it was the line out from the PA that was the cause of the low input signal after all. Now that I have the Yamaha mixer the problem is solved. Beautiful clean signal! Love that Echo Mia. The reason I was getting nothing from the mixer was due to a master volume knob not turned up enough. Swear I checked that out before, seems so obvious. Anyhow, nervous breakdown avoided but must go get something alcoholic now....

Hehe! So obvious that I didn't even mention it...
And I just ditched the post which told you how to do a self-check, etc. Never mind... The only other thing is that if you haven't already done so, you should download the latest drivers from the Echo site, and don't use the ones on the CD.

Re: Echo MIA
Just something you might take note of, that when recording a wave file in 32 bit mode @ 48,000 KHZ (not 16 Bit, 44,100) and if the recording (in my case an LP) lasts longer than 23min 18 seconds,
the time window reverts back to 0 Min: 0 Sec, and starts counting all over again. This doesn't however affect the recording that was some 27 minutes or so. I verified this 4 times and it reset to 0 while still recording at the same 23 min 18 second spot.
I contacted Syntrillium, and they said that it was definitely a driver issue (Echo) as it is the driver that displays/controls the clock info (time window display), not CEP. I do have the current driver version 6.08 from Echo.
With the Syntrillim 2.1 release Update, there is under Settings > System, a check box "Use sound card positioning info". I had ticked this item and this is what gave me the problem. Having de-selected this item, I have not had any problems since.
My response from Syntrillium was still, to get the latest drivers or contact Echo. But having solved the problem and having no other issues with CEP/MIA...I have left it at that.
Just for info, and if you end up with a problem like this, this will probably be the reason why.
