Panic!
Suddenly Cooledit Pro can't open *.cda files or rip cd-audio anymore.
Via File->open cda files it just imports the actual cda file, not the audio itself. Via File->extract audio from cd it doesn't 'see' the tracks on the cd at all.
I tried reinstalling both the cd-rom players and Cooledit, even deleting it's folder in Regedit.
Win XP, soundcard Pulsar 2 (creamware)
Thanks for reading&replying!

Is it just the one CD or any one you try? I have had one or 2 CDs that just would not rip for some reason.

Usually if something is working and then suddenly stops, it's because you have (intentionally or accidentally) changed something on your system meanwhile. For instance, have you recently installed / uninstalled some piece of software or hardware, which might point to what's gone missing? (We once had a post like this where the response was, 'well I did upgrade from Win98 to XP' so one can never tell.....). I'd suspect some system file has gone missing and you may need to reinstall the OS or use a utility to check for which critical OS files have been damaged / deleted.

It's any cd. Also, i think the device specification in the audio extract dialog window looks funny:
O:(_36XCD ROM_______________2.FO)
"O" is correct, but what with all the space and the 2.FO? How does this look with you?
By the way, all other functions of the cd rom work fine (copying, reading, playing)
Thanks again!

Hello Ozpeter!
I've tried reinstalling various older xp installations (from a ghost image).
The soundcard (Creamware Pulsar 2) is pretty new indeed, but I wouldn't geuss that to be the problem.
Do you have a tip for a utility to check the OS?
Thanks!
