So, it crashes right when trying to start up? How far does it get? Does the splash screen appear? Does it say anything like 'Scanning Effects', 'building Layout', anything like that when it crashes?

I doubt he's gonna answer. This is his third post with the same question in about as many days, and he just won't give any more details. Check it out.
'ce pro wont laod'
and,
'cep demo wont work'
Maybe it's just me though.

Yes, People can understand the code, programmers do it all the time. Not so much register codes but what MODULE is CEP causing the error in? This does help because sometimes it's a driver conflict. You remove or disable the offending driver install the software and reinstall the driver, well thats if it's crashin on install, The again you may need to create a hardware profile that disables this driver or device when you load up your audio editing profile.... Unfortunatley without more info to help narrow the feild a bit of possible causes it's like looking for a needle in a stack of needles....

Hey persianxxxspy,
I recognize your username from your last post. Why didn't you mention any symptoms then? Or at least posted back with some details. Did you read the responses ? That's what they said, "Tell us something."
Anyway, I had precisely the same problem as you describe. I battled it through a full evolution of hardware from the motherboard to the keyboard, 3 operating systems and a bunch of copies of the installation program. Nothing else installed, no software except Windows.
And it wound up being a virus. A very weak, and otherwise ineffective PE_CIH Virus. But for the love of all things Holy, it would not let CEP 2.0 get past "Building Layout".
Took me oh, eight months to find the cause.
Just thought I would throw that out here. There doesn't have to be ANY other indications or signs. Unless you have done a one time scan of every executable on your computer, that turned up nothing, it's a possibility.
Pc-Cillin is what I finally used to get rid of it. It gently scrubs the virus away, while leaving your files intact.

Go buy a copy of Norton Antivirus. I know there are other free programs around that can be very helpful, but that program is a known with good support. Or try a trial from their website (Symantec) or McAfee's website. This is not difficult. I'm sorry the trial's almost expired, but you've not been very prompt in replying to the questions posted here or doing much else about it. We'll try to help as much as we can, and you'll know when it's working even after the trial expires (saving will be disabled, everything will still "function," albeit uselessly).

Whoa, wait a minute.
Pc-Cillin will work just fine for this. What you need to do is :
Re-Run Pc-Cillin.
The thing is, what it was telling you was that those EXE's were infected, and it gave you the option of (C)lean (D)elete or (I)gnore.
If you choose (C)lean, it cleans the file and leaves it in place for use. Voila. I'm sorry you formatted your drive, you didn't have to.
It sounds like your system was really infected. If you had a bunch of other programs that were infected, most certainly you had Windows files that were infected too. You need to re run Pc-Cillin and clean out every occurrence of a virus, and then check items as they get moved on to your computer. It could be any executable on your pc causing this problem.

Well, I guess Music Conductor's gonna have to help you out with this.
I've never used Norton. I used Pc-Cillin and it worked great for me. And it was working fine for you too, you just didn't pay attention to what was going on on your screen.
Norton ? Can't help you.
Look, you've got virus problems, and that's why CEP isn't working. No matter what Anti-virus program you use, you have to carefully pay attention to what it's telling you to do to remove it. Be patient, and follow the instructions.

No problem, glad to hear you got it worked out. Aren't viruses lovely ?
Thank YOU, by the way, for the feedback. Often times, people just seem to drift away without ever reporting wether or not they solved their problem or how. Not very useful for other people looking for help with a similar problem.
One question I would like to ask you though is, what program(s) did you use to get rid of it ? And, did you find it to be relatively easy to use, or, if you had it to do over again would you try to use something else ?

That's great news, Persian, and I want to echo William in saying a thank you for reporting back to us! Of course, Norton isn't the only way to get the job done, but as a long-time Norton user, I'm glad that it did its job well for you.
