Are they steeper than the steep filters you find in the scientific filters section, for example? Do they come with a health warning similar to the one about phase distortion using a high order scientific filter? How do they compare to the other filters in Cool Edit?
See, so many questions, but I'm not even sure what questions to ask exactly. For example, I'm wondering about using the splitter for getting rid of low end rumble. Any advantage to using it instead of Cool's scientific highpass filter?

You should be able to get a pretty good feel for this yourself by splitting white noise and looking at the results with frequency analysis.
