i wanted to try the new coool edit !!!

and see the new addon of surround sound... well...it looked all sci-fi !!! (i haven't tried yet) well, before i could jump into the new prog and start making some things, I came across one problem.

This one won't Read or play any of my MP3 collection ...STRANGE !!!

It just won't play , "I hear STATIC" (when auto play is enabeled)
...instead it will ask for changing it, and says it is raw data, and asks for various formats,

but it does open wma files.

Why ? ....why ?

love
lorisha

Hmmm... strange, have you tried reinstalling the program?

It does sound like the mp3 filter hasn't been installed properly - you were upgrading from a properly registered version 2.0 to 2.1, yes?

I am trying to use this new CEP in another computer. The working Cool Edit Pro (the older one....and with which i am very much satisfied Wink ) is in my other computer.

Well..... i just wanted to see the new version .... so far it won't OPEN / READ ....and HEY also SAVE the MP3 ....

Infact i did the OPEN, and there in types of extension list, i Even didn't have Mp3 listed. WHY ?

and it won't at all read or write mp3 ....but will do the WMa

In the Cool Edit program directory, (the one containing the software you have installed), you should have a file called 'fhtpro.flt' which handles mp3's - if it isn't there, that's probably the reason for your problem, or if it is there, maybe it is corrupted in some way. If you are installing from a download, maybe the download was corrupted as it found its way to you across the net. I'm pretty sure that the fhtpro.flt file for CEP2.1 is different from that in CEP2.0, but you might get it to at least work in CEP2.1 if you copied it from there, even if it's not the latest version.

But hopefully someone else will jump in - if only to say 'hello' on one of your rare appearances here these days!

Hi Lorisha

The only additional information that I can give you is that the MP3 codec is different in CEP2.1, so in the dropdown menu, you should be looking for a line that says
mp3PRO®(FhG} (*.mp3)[/list:2d12094a29] rather than what it would say in CEP1.2a.

ROFL!!! :D

Well, Harry, I'm afraid I probably wouldn't bother trying to get myself into that kind of trouble... Wink Heh!

If I visit other countries, I tend to throw myself on the mercy and hospitality of the local people, and hire an interpreter, if necessary!

One day I will get over there - several friends have spoken highly of your country, of its people and the scenery.

Best... -Jon

In my military travels, I always found that a pocket full of cash and renting a cab and cabbie for the day was the best route (no pun intended) to both the best sites and a good translator! Wink

One of the many wonderful things about Amsterdam (where I used regularly to record) is that everyone speaks very good English. I asked my producer why this should be, and he explained that's because their language is so hard to learn, they have to be fluent in everyone else's.

The only time I ever tried my phrasebook Dutch in a shop, the shopkeeper replied in impeccable English immediately. After that I gave up trying.

Dutch isn't that hard actually for people who speak a germanic language. Especially for the ones that talk german or a scandinavian language. Maybe it's a bit harder for the english speaking ones because of certain sounds? I don't know...

Anyway, the fact that people in the netherlands (and flanders, northern belgium where they also speak dutch) start to talk english immediately seems to have something to do with the 'underdog position' of the language. This goes for the scandinavian ones too. The languages aren't that 'big' as for example french, german or english. So people tend to speak english immediately if they hear you don't speak their language fluently. This is just my observation...no hard facts:)

I'm afraid that when and if I visit a Germanic country, I'll be reduced to the standard phrase, "Ich bin ein Berlitzer".
