I have my hardware set up and am ready to start recording in CEP via my Mia 24/96.

In CEP's Device Properties, I have 'Wave In' set to Mia 1-2 analog in, 32-bit audio using 4-byte PCM, and "Try as WDM" as checked.

In CEP Settings < Mutitrack tab, I have 'Track Record Defaults' set to 32-bit and stereo. In the Data tab, I have "Interpret 32-bit PCM wav files as 16-bit float" checked.

Anything I'm forgetting? I read that I should disable Windows system sounds... what do you think? One other thing... if the Mia records at 24-bit and CEP is set to 32-bit, how does that work?

Thanks all :)

Sounds like it should work - but it won't explode if you try hitting 'record' anyway! (Another of my favourite cartoons - guy sitting in front of a desk with the smoking remains of his PC all around him - captioned "Well, it's never done that before!").

As for 24 bit / 32 bit, there have been some lengthy explanations about the ins and outs of that in previous threads. You might find them by searching for "forum wall", a phrase I've inserted in threads which have particularly impressed me. Having read them, I should be able to pass on the wisdom, shouldn't I?! In my layman's terms, 32 bit is 24 bit with some zeros added on the end, giving scope for their use in later processing and also allowing for prodigious dynamic range. But I have the feeling that I may have just made a fool of myself, so have a search for the previous posts.

And yes, disable the windows sounds. I don't bother, but try it the proper way first.

Cool, thanks. So the above options are all correct? "Interpret 32-bit PCM wav files as 16-bit float" should be checked, or is that irrelevant for recording?
