Im new to Cool Edit I like it alot but I one feature that would gain alot of users would be rewire since it seems that Cool edit will never be a midi sequencer if they simply ad rewire they could gain Propellerhead Reason, and a host of other soft synth users I think CEP would be perfect for Reason only if they ad rewire

It's perfectly possible using midi sync to use Cool Edit in combination with a midi sequencer, which is why Syntrillium have never tried to add their own midi sequencer into the product. You just select whatever sequencer you think is best, add it to the best editor (CE!) and you've got the best of everything.

But how do you use a program like reason on the same computer?
with rewire I could us up to 64 tracks in cool edit pro that is if it had the rewire option

I'm probably missing the point here (help, someone!!) because my main field of work is recording classical concerts, but by syncing Cool Edit to Cubase or whatever, you've got over 100 tracks of audio and probably more of midi. That should be enough for most situations, surely? Quite what Rewire could contribute in this scenario I don't know.

Thanks for the link. That sort of explains things a bit, though I confess to still being slightly out of my depth (but I'm here to learn!). I use another method of more-or-less integrating VSTi's with Cool Edit but I'm not going to go on about it yet again.... my notes on the subject remain available to anyone who cares to email me.

well, as it is now(and this is sort of a pain), you have to solo the channel in reason's mixer and export the song as a wave file(times the number of channels you want to export). not TOO bad when you have three or four channels but when you start getting into higher channel numbers and longer song lengths...well, it becomes a nuisance.
it would be VERY handy if the props would create an "export for multitrack" option. wherein it would export all channels, and name them based on the channel's name, in one step. then you'd just tell it to export for multitrack and go have a coffee. hahaha

I am in awe! What an amazing stream-of-consciousness phrase! And it makes complete sense!

If there is some sort of emerging standard here then yes, it would do CE no harm to have it - except for the issue of prioritisation; is that really what the finite programming resource available should most urgently be working on, in preference perhaps to some even more popular and necessary features? You 'rewire' enthusiasts might say so, others might not. I'm sure Adobe/Syntillium have their fingers on the market pulse.

God I would love for Cool Edit Pro to have ReWire. Syntrillium..er...Adobe...er...whoever - would gain many many many Reason and ReBirth users the world over. ReBirth has been out since the late 90's; there's a *HUGE* customer base waiting to be tapped. And Reason, IMHO, is 10x better - I use both CEP and Reason and would love to stream the tracks into CEP.
Hey Syntrillium, are ya' listening? ;-)
Cheers,
EnochLight

Probably not now.... You might try posting your "suggestion" over at Adobe's Forum though, (seeing how, they own Cool Edit Pro).

Actually, I emailed Adobe directly, just hoping a straggling Syntriullium employee might see this post and have an epiphany.
Yeah, your signature says it all about this forum. Funny thing is, and I quote verbatim from Adobe, they say "Adobe is concerned about keeping the Cool Edit community alive and well. One of the great things about Cool Edit is the group of users who gather to help each other and talk shop, and we hope that the Adobe user-to-user forums continue to address this need. The Adobe Audition user-to-user forums will become live when Adobe Audition begins shipping in late August."
So, does it look like this forum will simply "dissappear", or will we be able to convert our profiles, threads, etc to the "Adobe Audition user-to-user forums"?
I've got a feeling this community will be destroyed in this process, if Adobe doesn't bother to handle it properly...
Cheers,
EnochLight

Enochlight, this has been discussed at considerable length in other threads - search for 'Adobe'!:)

Quite aware, Ozpeter. Just making an observation from VoodooRadio's signature.

I changed that not too long ago, when the tale-tell signs were coming to light. I actually entertained the idea that it was a joke, but now see it as writing on the wall!
