I'm searching for a pickup for trumpet. many moons ago, a small pickup was available from a now-defunct company--it was inserted into a small hole drilled into the mouthpiece. In the absence of this, I use an audio-technica brass mic clipped onto the bell (the main purpose being the ability to play through guitar effects). But it's not as effective...
Any electrical geniuses out there know a method of manufacturing one? or know of a product like this on the market?

I've never seen a pickup that was attached to the mouthpiece. Of course, I'm not saying they don't exist... I just haven't seen one. I have used both a Mute Pickup and I've miced the bells with just about every mic under the sun.

I had a look to see if any of the available contact mics would be suitable, and I can't see an easy way of converting a mouthpiece at all. Dunno what sort of sound you are going to get from there either - this isn't the traditional place to mic a trumpet!
As far as I can tell, most people use a Barcus-Berry on trumpets, although how this will help with the guitar FX, I can't tell...

thanks for the input. The idea is to convert the trumpet to a pure line signal...I have done it, like 20 years ago, with (in fact) a Barcus-Berry pickup, which was a little 1/4" plug you literally inserted into a hole in the mouthpiece. (Miles Davis used something similar in the 70s, but his was attached to the leadpipe.)
Obviously not traditional miking, but a way to properly kick the effects in...

As far as I can tell, the closest you can get at present is a B-B 3000A contact pickup, but that doesn't want to go at the mouthpiece end - it relies on rather more vibration for a good signal - obviously the bell end!

I've had some success with the Yamaha silent brass mute pickup... As I recall, I did a bit of plugging it into some guitar effects with the most success with the delay and wah types.

again, thanks to all of you...I'll look at that B-B. the3jsgrve...you a trumpet player, or just had experience with this in the studio? The silent brass may well be the way to go, but you have to be muted for it....
