I'm planning to buy a new soundcard. I'm reading about the M-audiophile, Hoontech dsp 24 value and the Terratec dmx 2496 lite. Is there much difference between the Terratec and the other two in the field of sound quality, latency etc.?

Unless I'm very much mistaken, the Hoontech card has slightly lower-spec A-D convertors on board, although it is going to be quite hard to tell the difference. I know that on the newer Hoontech cards, they've upped the spec to the same converters that everybody else is using, but I don't think that this happened with the Value card.
The Terratec DMX2496 6-fire lite is the normal Terratec card without the breakout box, and if you are referring to the Audiophile 2496, then out of this lot, it would be the one I'd go for. But since I've got a Mia, I don't have to. I did seriously consider an Audiophile at one stage, but I preferred the Mia's connectors, and Echo have an excellent reputation - which is worth quite a lot.
So I think that you will find that it is the Hoontech that is the very slightly poor relation. (Unless anybody else knows better... quite possible!).

thx a lot! Yep, it's the audiophile 2496. Only 'problem' is that the audiophile costs almost twice as much as the terratec lite (don't need the breakbout box). Otherwice,I've decided that I won't buy cheap stuff anymore like behringer, samson mics etc. but remain patience and save up for quality. Already have the akg C3000 now, next stap is a good audiocart and then a Mackie DFX-6 mixer or something. We'll see...

I live in Belgium (Europe) and I don't think Echo is avaible over here. Never saw it before...

Since I can quite easily do Belgium as a day trip from the UK, I would have thought a little shopping trip for you in the other direction might have been worth it... since Belgium has always appeared like a backward third-world country when it comes to anything like this. Must be the fixation with chocolate!
But I'm sure that quite a few UK retailers would be prepared to mail you whatever you want - I think that they recognise that the pro-audio situation in the UK is rather better than it is in the rest of Europe as a whole - probably excepting Germany.
