You're entering dangerous territory matt:D The vocal removing topic isn't too popular amongst the regulars here, hehe.

Just take a look at the tips&tricks forum or at the top of this forum. They are there since there were lots of posts about this earlier on.

And this is not the way they cut out bad language. Well, I suppose not at least, hehe:D I assume they have the songs with separated tracks so they can mute (replace with some sound) the offending part of the just the vocals in this case.

As mentioned, this isn't how bad words are edited out. Usually, if the tracks are from a big (or newly signed) act, then this is something taken care of during the mixing process. A radio friendly version is created.
You're pretty much left with volume control, or sound effects.

This all reminds me of a tape that I have of a local radio DJ that I may have to transfer for you to truly appreciate the humor of:

The song "kitty" from the "Presidents of the United States of America" was playing. The DJ's voice is marked in red:

...Kitty rear up and scratch me through my jeans
beep you, Kitty you're gonna to spend the night
beep you, Kitty you're gonna to spend the night
F*** you, Kitty you're gonna to spend the night oops beep OUTSIDE

Kitty at my foot and I wanna...

Yes, he was actually saying the word "beep". I guess it's much more funny as audio than text...
