Im using CEP2. I was wondering if there is a way one can store the configuration settings of the effects plug-ins that we make according to our desired results.
Lets say I am using a Stretch effect, and altering some of the default values and saving it under another name that I choose for it.
Now it stays there as long as THAT copy runs ok. Now if your computer crashes and you have to re-install it, the whole settings are setup to the default values and the ones I created are gone for good.
My question is that, can't I save those settings in a seperate file which I can take back up on regular basis. So in case the computer crashes, I'd be able to pretty much bring the software to the same configuration I used it the last time.
Thanks for your help.

They are in a separate file. It's called COOL.INI and where it is located depends on your operating system. Do a search for files named COOL.INI containing a word you use as a preset title. That should turn it up and you can backup that file.

Nice...thanks for that.
But hey.. I discovered something cool in cool edit pro today
Let me share this tip with everyone here.
In a particular session, lets say you have two tracks, one is music and other is Vocal. You setup a certain effect that you tweaked it to your needs and even named it, applied and saved the session. But having the system crashed and having the settings lost if you re-install the cool edit.
Now if you have that session file somewhere by any chance, you can restore the effect pretty much. All you have to do is open that session file, and click on the FX button on that particular vocal track. Your effect settings will be pretty much intact there, however it will be nameless. Just go ahead and name it to whatever you want, and there you go you got your setting back. You can re-use it for any track just by calling its name.
Cheers!!:D

I'm plagarizing myself from an earlier posting:
CE presets stored in "cool.ini" file; DX presets stored in "AMIXFM.DAT" file.

AMIXFM refers to earlier versions of Cool Edit. CEP2.x does not use this anymore, as it's all stored in the cool.ini.

hmm so let us understand this clearly. CEP 2.X users should only save cool.ini file for all the presets , is that corret?
