In CoolEdit 2.0, i have been attempting to record several bass tracks over one another... but everytime i go to record the 2nd track not only does it record the new bass, but also rerecords the first track onto the second track... this causes much distortion when both tracks are played simultaneously... i checked in windows volume mixer to see if perhaps it was recording 'wave' as well as 'line', but for some reason my volume mixer does not have the 'select' option with the check box... only mute. mute does not seem to have any effect, however. any ideas? I am using an Avance Logic ALS4000 Soundcard.

also... trying to upgrade to new sound card -- what are your thoughts on the DMX 6Fire LT vs. Audiophile 2496.

Let me tell you what i am trying to accomplish ---
i am attempting to record 6 mics set up on drums and 1 mic set up on a guitar cabinet, then layer over bass and vocals later.

hope to hear from someone.

Tried right clicking on everything to do with your windows mixer? You might find a submenu with a "properties" box. Shy

Nope, nothing but a mute control. It is so strange. It sounds to me like my sound card is selecting everything. Is there a alternate to Windows Volume Control that has the select option? As i said, mine is the only comp with this function disabled.

P.S. What are feelings on the Echo Mia?

Sorry, I don't have anymore thoughts on the "no windows properties" thing. As for...

While I personally don't use one, I know alot of folks that do, (including a great number of forum members). I never heard anything negative in regards to any of the Echo line of products. In fact, I've seen mention of their Customer Support as being top notch (like Syntrilliums)! That is very reassuring. Approve
