Hi,
Lately, I've noticed that when I burn some of my tracks onto a CD-R and play them back in my stereo, half of a song is dead silence. The track seems fine when I download it at first. I always listen to a track in its entirety to make sure there are no such distortions, dead silence etc. before actually writing it onto a cd. A 4 minute track will get abruptly cut off at the 2 minute mark and you hear nothing but silence till the end of the track. Does anyone know why this is? The song is in its entirety when I play the original mp3/wav file on my computer. Why doesn't it record properly? VERY ANNOYING.

Secondly, on some of my tracks, I hear a weird noise (sort of like when a DJ scratches a record and thus the verse repeats itself like a remix-VERY ANNOYING).

If anyone can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it. I hate wasting perfectly good CD-Rs and having to redownload songs. Its very difficult when the song sounds perfect and plays in its entirety on your computer but is chopped off when burned to a cd.

Thank you.

Also out of curiosity - how do you prepare/write your material to CD, and what software do you use?

But I'm also with Voodoo on this one - where are you getting this stuff? And might you be dealing with DRM issues, here?

;)

Hi,
I download all of my files from Kazaa. I then use the software MusicMatch to convert the files to a .wav format so that they can be written on a CD-R. I use Adaptec Easy CD Creator 3.5c in order to create the CD. I mean the files sound perfectly fine when I play them on my computer (I use Winamp) but they get cut off in the middle when burned to a CD and/or have distortions.

So, I guess what you're saying is that Cool Edit doesn't even enter the picture. Can you convert and write these files using Cool Edit Pro? No, wait... don't even answer that... Maybe you should try contacting support at either Winamp, MusicMatch, or Roxio concerning this problem.

That is, unless you've just "downloaded" all of those, too....

"What is CoolEdit?" haha, that is what all these forums are for basically and as for your cd burning problem I can't really help you with that and many people here don't like downloading songs or programs or anything like that so I don't know how much help you'll receive.

Maybe you can find something there. It's what search engines are for, you know.
