Hi,
This really should be SO simple. I have a massive .wav file recorded at CD quality, giving >2hrs of music. All i want to be able to do is place down track-marks (a la minidisc editing) so i can move around the file to bits i want. I would however like it to play through as a continueous entity, like any album on CD/MD. I think maybe i need to convert the track to another format, particularly as i would ultimately like to burn it to CD.
So my (no doubt rather newbie) questions are:
Can i do the above with Cool Edit?
How then?
What order should i do things in, to end up with a several CDs covering the whole thing?
All help greatfully recieved!
Cheers,
Damian

In CEP2.1 this is very easy with the burner plugin. Placing track markers is as easy as clicking shift+F7, and if "Save extra information" is enabled, those cues are added to the header of the wave file and are always there.
Secondly, CEP only support Disc-at-once burning, so the continuousness is no problem.
Since you're going to have to use multiple CDs to accomodate the length, you could certainly save the master file into separate files for each disc. But that really isn't necessary, so long as you select the correct track cues in the burning plugin once you've made them in Edit View. Obviously, some fade-ins and outs and perhaps a few extra seconds of silence would be in order to "finish" the way each disc runs, which could be applied (destructively) to the master file if keeping just one is a priority.

Practice hitting the F8 key. This places a cue marker where the file play cursor is. Thus it works slightly differently depending on whether the file is playing or stopped.
Cue list on the view menu brings up a list. These markers will be saved when you save the file with "Save non-audio information" ticked.
The rest depends on the version of Cool Edit that you are using. CEP2.1 will probably be able to burn the file directly from the program with track markers built in.
You just need to divide the file up into smaller CD-length files. It's best to start with this so you are working on smaller files throughout. Get used to using the timing info at the bottom of the screen.
I quite often record long shows and work the way you will soon be doing. With practice it's very simple and quick.
It is all in the help files......
