Sometimes, for no reason I've been able to notice, Cool Edit 2.0 decides, when I want to save a session, to put a (2) behind each track name. If I opt not to save the tracks with the (2) suffix, then I lose the session information for that track, and I have to laboriously search out the track the next time I load the session. But it's not just one track - Cool does this with all the tracks in the session. If I choose to save the session with all the (2) names, then the session contains the new (2) names and the old correct names, and I have a housekeeping job of deleting or renaming tracks to do.

I know why this happens - it arises out of the way I saved sessions in 1.2 - this wasn't much of a problem in 1.2, but 2.0 isn't very backwards compatible in this regard.

Okay, I'm saving sessions in a way that Cool 2.0 likes way better these days, but my problem is that I've got a *lot* of material I recorded and saved the old way ini 1.2 and which I'm mixing in 2.0 and which is giving me a lot of headaches.

It's got to do with the session information, right? Is there some way that I can get into the session file and try to sort things out? Or must I, alas, remain a dissatisfied user of 2.0 until I work my painful way through all the material that Cool doesn't like?

Unless these were copies (in fact 2nd copies, which I don't think [based on your description] they are) I can't begin to fathom why CEP would do this. One suggestion I will make however is.... when you start working on a song make a "designated" folder with the song name. At least you won't have to do ALOT of searching around. Another suggestion would be... to contact Syntrillium Support and see if they can get you sorted out. Shy
