I have been using Cool Edit Pro 1.1 on a dinosaur 210 MHz P-2 with Windows '95. I have a new Dell P-4 1.8 GHz with Windows XP now. When I tried to install on the new system, it immediately told me there was a problem and to contact the help desk. Can I use my old program, or do I need to upgrade? Thanks!

Might as well upgrade. You want to harness all the power you just invested in.. Cool Edit Pro 2.0 is a must!

I'm not sure that I agree with upgrading to CEP2.0 at this stage in the game.
okiedude is moving from '95 to XP - in itself a major jump - and I think he would be unwise to compound the felony by upgrading to a version which, as we all know, has not proved satisfactory to everyone as yet.
However, I don't think there is anyone here who could claim that 1.2a is not stable and I do think that a (free) upgrade to 1.2a is advisable. In fact, I rather suspect that this is essential if he wants to run under XP, since 1.1 was released long before XP was around and there were some significant improvements in CEP in the 1.2a version.
Once 1.2a is working properly, that is the time to think about v2.0.
