Hi! I’ve got two problems: I’ve got a take from a press-conference with a lot of echo. Is there any posibility to eliminate this echo with CE2000?

The other question is about Laptops: I am looking for some external sound card or an PCMCIA-card. But here in Spain it’s imposible to find anything like this. Can somone help me what cards exist? Thank you!

Hello...

Only if level of the echo is somewhat below the voices can you do much about it, as it's part of the homogenized sound that you recorded, but if the echo is indeed somewhat lower in level, you may perhaps find some relief by trying to gate the speaking parts, so that at least the echo doesn't carry on between sentences or during pauses. Try gating gently with a bit of a decay for a less obtrusive effect.

The only PCMCIA card I've had any experience with is the "VX Pocket," made by Digigram, and distributed in the US by the Fostex company. It's actually pretty good, albeit just a stereo card. I think it retails for around $700 US.

All the best... -Jon

I would agree with you on this one J.R. as well, since Echo is essentially noise.which is part of the "sound".You can gate it with some success BUT the end result might be a choppy "pumping" effect which will sound awfully obvious that you did something to it.You can gate it and add more decay to it to make it less choppy and then maybe some compression and the normalize the selection-could be good could be bad. Dont be afraid to experiment with it.
