I'm trying to figure out the whole gist of multi track recording. Here's what i'm having trouble with now.
I'll lay down the drum track, and then try to record the guitar on different track. I need to be able to hear the drums in order to record the guitar right on time with them, but i can't do that without having it put the drums into my guitar track. I want to have the drums and guitar on separate tracks so that i can modify them separately before i mix them down. Any help would be greatley appreciated. thanks.

Hi, make sure you don't have the option "loop back" or "wave" selected on the RECORDING MIXER section of your computer(only select line in to record). It is seperate from the playback one (set to play waves so you can hear the drums) on some computers depending on the exact interface.( Ensoniq is different than the standard windows one). Hope this helps, and good luck!
