First, a quick thanks to everyone here for all their help and suggestions over the years.....

I've put off permanently upgrading to AUD 3.0 over 1.5 for some time now because (1) the interface was such a change and (2) because I was just having so many damn problems with it, mostly in the area of using plugin effects. I have some Wave effects that I use regularly without a problem in 1.5 but get nothing but lockups in 3.0. Now, I have these effects in VST and DX formats and have always assumed that VST was "better" but after experimenting with the DX versions I find that my lockup problems are gone. I'm using the ASIO drivers for my M-audio card and my E-mu 0404 USB 2.0 interface. I can't get the E-mu to work at all with the non-asio driver and just gave up.

Now that I've put some time into using 3.0 sans crashes I'm starting to like it. (Unlike a number of people I'm happy with using AUD for for both multi-tracking and editing.) My only complaint with the program is the midi section and the fact that it's kind of top-heavy. Regarding plugin effects is there any reason to use vst over dx? Thanks.

G.

I've responded to this question in your other thread.
