Was just toolin' around Google and came across a site called hackaday, and this particular address was for portable audio projects.  Near the bottom is a link for a small portable amp which I wondered if anyone here might be interested in. Of course, no guarantees at all about the true quality or scope of its usefulness.

More than likely some here have done these kinds of things as tinkerers in the past.  And who knows... maybe something here could truly be what you've been looking for.  Or, maybe some of you have kids or grandkids who like to build things.

With all that's on the website this thread could just as easily been put in OT, but the audio angle won out.

I think that it would more appropriate to provide this link to the amplifier.  Headwize is a headphone-dedicated site run by the designer of the amp.

Ah so... a near mirror-image on the schematic.  But one could have some fun looking at all the other items to build/modify on the site -- though they might be copies too.

There's not a lot to it - it wouldn't be difficult for anybody with a modicum of skill to build. I think that the version further down the page with the volume control might be a good idea though...  cheesy

I think it was initially intended to supplement insufficiently powerful amplifiers of portable CD players - this is why a volume control was not so necessary.

As far as I know, the project has gained quite a popularity for such type of hardware. Lazy or unskilled ones can even get it on ebay: search for "cmoy".

Here's a sound sample of the little Marshall I recorded last night...Goto my SoundClick site and look for the song "Laid Back Blues".....

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=441592

To record this, I made a mini sound booth out of a medium sized cooler, with the inside walls lined with material from a felt lined sleeping bag. I fed my mic and guitar chords thru the drain hole, and it worked perfectly, blocking out all my basic room noises.

I find that interesting.  I'm just beginning to get interested in podcasting and other tools & venues for independent artists, and that's...interesting.

SoundClick is a really cool site for independent musicians for sure. Over the last few months I've had 1000's of song plays and hundreds of downloads, and 19  independent internet radio stations playing my music. So I think it's a great way to get your music out there.

I've had many of my songs break into the Top Ten on their charts, and I think that's pretty cool. It's better than keeping songs locked up in a drawer.

I was going thru the blues charts the other day, and found Robin Trower even has a site there.
