In Audition 1.0, mp3 files are opened as 32 bit files by default. They may appear twice as large as you expect if you then save them as wave files. Unless they are saved as 16-bit files (at 44.1kHz sampling rate) you cannot use them in an audio CDR for replay on a normal CD player.

To prevent Audition defaulting to 32-bit for mp3 files, do this in Edit view -

File>Save as>mp3pro>Options>Set all decoding to 32-bit< NOT checked.
