Hello all,

I got the new version today. Unfortunately there is no hint how I can copy the keyboard shortcuts from 2.0 to 3.0. As far as I remember Steve's statement right (which could be several years ago...) he mentioned that the change from 1.5 to 2.0 was a major one with changes in architecture and settings. That's why we were not able to copy the settings from 1.5 to 2.0 properly like we were way back when changing from 1.0 to 1.5.

Thus I thought there should be an easy way to copy the keyboard shortcuts to the new version because the architecture is the same. So, which file in the settings folder do I have to copy? (Already tried them all - no result)

Thanks for your help in advance.

So it won't surprise you to learn that the keyboard shortcuts are stored differently, then!

They are all coded registry entries, and since a few things have changed, it may not necessarily be the best thing you ever did to copy them regardless...

Steve, thanks for your quick answer. In the meantime I have found out that there is a registry entry that has an impact when copying from 2.0 to 3.0. After the process of transfering I found myself quite comfortable in the new surrounding. I just don't know if I should post it - in terms of your warning "it may not necessarily be the best thing you ever did to copy them regardless..."

So long and thanks again

I didn't bother with v2 - there wasn't much in it for me - v3 is looking a lot better and I will probably go for this version.

However, when I installed the v3 trial, there was an option to import my v1.5 keystrokes, so I presumed there would also be a similar option for those with the last version?

I do have another, similar, question about the trial version.  When I install the upgrade, will it recognise all the layouts, macros, keystrokes, etc., that I've built in the trial version, or will I have to redo everything from scratch?

If, when you uninstall the trial version, you select the option to retain all preferences, they should be available when you install the release edition.

You can make sure this happens by backing up the folder C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Audition\3.0\  then copying the contents back after you install the release version.

Thanks for that.  I've done quite a lot of macro stuff in the trial version (twice, since I had a crash, which meant I had to re-install  angry ) and I didn't fancy going through it all again.

Note that if you uninstall, that's the end of the trial.

I have to say I'm not convinced that the keyboard shortcuts are in the user prefs -

[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1708537768-1202660629-839522115-1003\Software\Adobe\Audition\3.0\Prefs\Keys\en_US\Peter rubbish] seems to be where they are here (when I saved a keyboard shortcut set under the name "Peter rubbish").  But maybe when you uninstall saving prefs, that key gets preserved?  However, personally I'd export it to be sure....
