Does anyone have a suggestion as to why all my plugins (both DX and VST) suddenly started taking about 5 times longer to load than they used to?

I have a 3Ghz P4, 2.5GB memory, lots of disks (S-ATA etc). A MiaMidi card with the latest asio drivers.

I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling Audition

If I can't figure it out I will have to start uninstalling plugins one by one - and there are a lot of them!

Interesting... I had a similar experience this morning (although I can't say that it was identical), but the one thing of note was that it happened after a Windows update. Now, that might be significant, but I don't know. Haven't got to the bottom of it at all yet.

Oh boy, that would be perfect - Windows screwing up AA! It would be almost impossible to find or fix! I have always run everything on the one machine, but I am getting very close to moving everything Internet to a portable and end up with (almost)  a DAW. That way I could check out updates etc on one machine before affecting the important one.

WWW

If you are allowing Microsoft Update (as opposed to Windows Update) to run (even if not installing automatically), then consider this.  The severity of the effects varies a lot between machines, from unexpected slowdowns to so bad that putting in the fixes took me over an hour.

No I don't run any "Microsoft Update" only Windows Update and even that is not automatic. The trouble is most of the Windows updates are tagged as security updates - so you tend to let them in!

I did delete a lot of unnecessary software - including Nero as that has caused problems with other apps. Fingers crossed things seem a bit better now
