First step - ensure correct setup in Edit > Audio Hardware Setup (Edit view tab).

If still no luck, let us know the hardware you are using including soundcard, and the kind of file you are trying to play.

WWW

I made my first fairly serious excursion into 2.0 last night.  My machine is certainly no flame thrower, but it's not a slug either.  P4 Northwood 2.4 with 768MB RAM, Matrox G450 graphics card.  I monitored RAM useage and never got above 512MB allocated with the simple stuff I was running.

I found I needed to turn off scrolling on playback to get clean audio in Edit View.  I had bumped the ASIO buffers up to 512 on my MOTU 24i - far more buffer than I need to run in any other application.  I also increased the WAV cache to 128MB.

I'll be poking around a little more to see if there are other settings.  In Audio Hardware, everything's been changed to MOTU ASIO.  You'll need to be careful when you load old sessions, as that can switch your audio devices back to days of old.

My first significant jump into 2.0 has left me pretty luke warm.  I don't have high hopes for flawless multitrack recording if I can even playback in EDIT view without noise.

I found that many times the white cursor line during playback in edit view will stutter and/or stop moving when pressing play.  That is sad.

How's it going now?  Has time permitted further exploration?
