Importing sessions from AA1.5 - correcting signal levels

If you import sessions from AA1.5 that have bus sends on them, you will find that the master output level in AA2.0 is somewhat higher than it should be, and is likely to clip. Also, your session might well sound not quite as it did...

The reason for this (which took a little sleuthing out) is that the mixer in AA2.0 is configured in a different, and rather more flexible, way to the one in AA1.5. Importing a 1.5 session can't, accordingly, reconfigure the new mixer because the information to do this simply isn't in the session file.

What is changed is the bus routing. In AA1.5, selecting a bus as the output for your channel disconnects the channel from the master send - so that everything from the channel is routed via the bus. In AA2.0, selecting a bus send in the fx section of the mixer doesn't disconnect the main channel send (underneath the main fader) from the master output - so as well as the bus send signal, you also get the channel send itself in the master output. Sending the same signal twice to the master output inevitably adds to the overall output level, hence the likelihood of clipping from a track with a signal level that goes anywhere near 0dB.

The solution is simple; underneath the main fader, for any channel with a bus send in fx, set the channel output to 'none'. This then reconfigures the mixer to the same state that it is in AA1.5, and the signal levels on the master output will be correct again.
