CD counter jumping to middle of track.

I have just installed cool edit 2000 on 10 new computers with windows xp. ( I work at a school that teaches the program)The CD player is jumping to different places on the selected track when I click the track number. The tracks haven't been marked and it jumps at random times.  Example: I will listen to track 1 for 10 seconds.... then click track 2 and listen to it for 17 seconds. Then I click back to track 1 and it starts playing from the :27 second mark. None of the tracks have been marked and it only happens on the computers with windows xp.... Has anyone else had this problem?
