I've played around with all the settings, but I still have been unable to make the display perform in the same way as it used to.  I find the sight of the cursor moving in one direction, while the file moves in the opposite one, most disturbing and I would much rather it started from the beginning of the selection (as it used to) than gently scroll to it.

I assume you're talking about CE2.? and I don't know how close to AA it is, but in AA there are 3 settings that control scrolling and a checkbox to turn it off altogether. I assume you don't have this option under settings (F4).

My only real issue with the scrolling is that even with a very fast GeForce4/8X on a P4/2533 the scrolling at certain zoom levels is far from smooth. Sometimes when playing back an LP that needs the occasional click/pop manually removed it is nice to both see and hear that click. Problem is when zoomed in close enough to discern clicks from instruments the scrolling is decidedly not smooth. In fact I think it used to be better in 1.x than it is in AA.

I have all the options.  The problem is simple - none of them actually make CEPv2.x or AA scroll in the same manner as 1.2a.

There are only minor differences between CEP2.1 and AA1 - and they have nothing to do with the scrolling.  Something changed quite dramatically in the scrolling department between 1.2a and the later versions - as described in my third post in this thread. In spite of comments to the contrary, I have yet to be convinced this is a video driver problem and isn't a change in the coding.
