WWW

I'm just curious to get some input from the community. We have divided a lot of the forums in anticipation for growth. Is this acceptable?

It is a little disconcerting to not have one forum to check out where the bulk of the posts are made - as on the Snitz CE Forum and this one before the change.  But the "posts made since last visit" link takes care of that.  You need to publicize this link more, and maybe make it a bit larger so it is more obvious.  I'd say stick with this new format for a week or so and then see what folks think.

In the long run, when the Snitz CE Forum goes dark and the Adobe Forum comes on-line formally, I think it will be useful to have the forum distinctions as you have them set up now.  Assuming that people know what version of Cool Edit they have, when they ask questions in the appropriate forum we will immediately know what type of answer to give - in terms of menu choices and feature sets, etc.

The one problem with any attempt to categorize is that, within one topic, folks can stray all over the place at times.  Then you have a problem deciding which forum it really belongs in.  But that problem goes with the territory.  I think folks can deal with that.

On the other hand - I was just over at the Snitz CE Forums reading a thread from a CEP2.1 user who had a problem installing the program.  Turns out his HD was infected with viruses and the solution was to run a virus removal program.  Once that was done, he could install the program.  Isn't this an issue that would affect CE2K users as well as CEP users?

That thread made me wonder whether CE2K and CEP users have more issues in common than not.  A CE2K user, who frequents the CE2k forum because that is the program he has, might completely miss the virus post referenced above because it would be in the CEP forum.  Makes me wonder if the two forums maybe ought to be just one Cool Edit forum.

I know there are arguments for doing it both ways.  But I wonder if the potential for missing solutions because they are posted in the other forum is the largest consideration of all.

Ok - I thought that was what this thread was for, considering the poll question.
