Might be helpful reading here:
http://audiomastersforum.net/amforum/viewtopic.php?t=965
I also have made some space available for folks to use. Not as convenient for folks as the AudioMasters showcase, but it works.

I was not able to put a quota on this account, so please keep the total storage below 600MB. If it goes over I will delete the oldest files until the space is restored.
If the space is abused I will shut down the account."

If you are able to log into the FTP server with your web browser, just drag and drop the files from you windows explorer into a folder on the FTP site. WAV files can be quite large - most folks elect to post MP3 files encoded at 128kbs or higher.

If they need to be wav files
(you can't compromise on the quality by saving to mp3 or another compressed format)
then you can help to save some space by using winzip (or winrar) to keep the quality but save on space.

Um, yes. But if theres one thing I've come to realize after a few years on this (and Synts) forum is; There very little "new" information coming down the pike. I would speculate that 70% (or more) of the info pushed around here has come full circle several times over. Fortunately, every great once and awhile there's a choice morsel thrown in that keeps me coming back.

Yeah, but I tend to introduce stuff slowly, if Volts wants to know
how
to post samples in the first place, I think relaying the pros and cons of different lossless formats is going to be overkill, so I just introduce the lowest common denomitator, so to speak

How does one unzip winrar files? The only unzipper I found was on the winrar site, and you had to pay for it. Unless there is an unzipper for winrar that is free, I think your audience is going to be rather limited if you use that compression format.

If that's true for you, then perhaps it's time to make the transition from "student" to "teacher".

- The compresser and decompresser is actually free, you just have to put up with a notice coming up after 30 days saying please buy me - other than that there aren't any restrictions for private use
(to the best of my knowledge)

I have already downloaded and used what you pointed me to - just not recently. I'll have to check and see if I'm past the 30-days-since-first-used point. Thanks for the tip about being able to use it past 30 days.
OT - Mac, what's up with the going abroad for the summer? Still thinking about it?
