1A - Record at 96khz, 32 bits, use 32 bit mixing and let the CD software convert to 44.1khz, 16 bits |

Record at 88.2kHz/32bit, 32-bit mixdowns, 32-bit transforms, etc....
Then downsample/convert bit-depth to 44.1kHz/16-bit as the very last two (separate) steps, in that order.
(Obviously, I didn't vote.... )

I didn't vote for the exact same reasons as Jon Rose (including settings). Perhaps you can edit the poll to include more options?

Hey Post... check out the Poll concerning "magazines" and you'll see where I made the same request. "Webmaster" replied that he is looking into it!

Hey Jon, aren't you using the 20-bit Laylas? Don't those things have a max of 48 kHz?

Yes, they do.
Your point would be.....?
;)
Best... -Jon
Okay....
Since the person who made up this poll seemed more predisposed, in most of their choices, to record at higher sample rates (which their card supports), I just responded in kind.
But in point of fact, I record a lot of this kind of stuff at 44.1kHz/32-bit (well, of course, it's only 20 going in, but you get the idea), which also avoids the odd conversion...

I wasn't making accusations or anything. When you said 88.2 kHz I started thinking that maybe there were versions of the 20-bitters that supported higher sample-rates. My mistake. :)

I see. Again; my misunderstanding.

have the CD copying software (Easy CD Creator) convert the file to 44.1/16 |
FWIW, I use EZCD Creator and although I like it as CD burning software, I would NEVER let it convert anything for me. I convert in CEP and then burn.

Hi!
I tried only with 20 bit 48 khz(aardvark),and it was audible better
when i recorded in 20/48 and then resampled on 16/44.
That's why i think that 32/96 must sound better.
Difference was in sonic ambience-more natural hights.
Hope it helps
