So how come I put a vote in that doesn't show?

I'll resest it, then try again. Also, create your own Poll and see what happens.

Hey, where's the box for "polls are the most annoying and pointless feature of any forum and their use should be stigmatized in much the way kiddie porn is"?
Not saying *I* would check that box of course...

NOTE: The Polls are in testing. In the near future, it is very likely that the Polls will be only initiated by administrators. Currently however, members may create their own polls, until further notice.

I know it's a pain, but I suspect that to get enough votes in a poll, the originator (even when testing it, as now) has to be able to make it 'sticky', or it has to be automatically 'sticky', otherwise it will get lost...

Having thought about this a bit more, how about saying that polls can be 'sticky' for, say, a day (or two) and then 'unstick' themselves? On balance, this would probably keep the top of the forums from getting too clagged up with polls. Can you devise an automatic timer to control poll stickiness? Or maybe just start a new Polls Forum????

The timer would be difficult, but a forum for polls might be a good idea. Maybe a forum for forum members to post whatever (within reason) polls they choose, and limit the standard forums to polls only by the M.D.?

And... does the poll hold members to only one vote, or can they slip in as many as they want?

It is supposed to. One vote per member per poll.

Is this poll thingy why "Active Topics" has stopped working?
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000d'
Type mismatch: '[string: ""]'
/inc_func_common.asp, line 856
is the error message. (at least on my machine!)

I don't hang out there, because it's the bad part of town, but when I walked through to do my grocery shopping two days ago it worked fine.

Also, is it "Active Topics" or "Active Polls" where you get this error message? Any help is appreciated.

IMHO a poll message should pop back to the top when a vote is placed, not just when a reply is written. Even an active poll can roll of the bottom very quickly.

The "new poll" line is where the "reply to topic" line was. This is not handy. Can you move it to someplace a bit out of the way please?
