I was wondering, If someone was going to make a stand alone DAW with no intention of ever using the computer for anything else, is there a reference or web site that explains how to strip the O/S (Windows 9 of all registry entries, files, shells etc that are not needed, and would this make the machine more efficient?

Win98Lite it is called, a search on the net will get you the references.
More efficient maybe, but taking less space for sure.

You can find about this at www.98lite.net
An interesting concept and one I intend to try out myself as soon as I clear the backlog :-(

Thanks very much. In fact I have been using that program since I built my DAW. It is definitly a speed improvement as there is no IE shell (a real bog down) The system feels more stable as well. However it does not rid me of so many usless things. The Printer shell for example. I would really like to know how to hack this on my own. Even to rid myself of unwanted system files etc.
