OK, I've successfully recorded my 4 tracks from tape to Cool Edit. When I clicked "save" it took about 2 minutes to save each track (as a txt file) When I try to open the session and tracks it estimates 15 minutes to open them. Am I doing something wrong? What is the "best" way to save multitrack sessions and tracks? When working with wave files I have no problems- they save and open quickly. Is there a way to save multitrack sessions and tracks as wav files? Why were the tracks saved as txt files? Thanks!

Hello Mike. When you went to 'Save Session As' the regular looking save dialog appears. Somehow, your default 'Save to' type got changed from Windows PCM wave to ASCII txt...YOU DO NOT WANT THIS FORMAT! (unless that's how you meant to save it). Simply, click the down arrow and be sure to select WinPCM wave. It should stay that way (by default) once you begin saving files with the type. But, for safety's sake, you should always 'glance' and be sure that you are saving to the proper format.

Thanks,Syntrillium Support. I wasn't saving from the waveform window, I was saving from the multitrack window. When I inserted the tracks one by one into the waveform window I was able to find the "save as" option and switched it to Windows PCM wave and it saved in moments. Is this the proper way to save each track from the multitrack session? Do I need to insert it into the waveform window before saving, and if so, will there be alignment problems when I reinsert them into the multitrack window? Thanks for your support, this is a great feature for users of your software.

Hello Mike. The best way to save files from within a Multitrack Session is to go to 'Save Session As' in the MT File menu, and then check the box labeled 'Save Copies of All Associated Files' in the Save dialog. You will then be prompted (with what looks like the 'Save As' window in Waveform View) and you can select the 'save to' file type. Be sure to place everything (the .SES file and the associated waves) into their own, discrete folder.
