Does anybody know how one could go about making homemade subliminal recordings using Cool Edit 2000? I know it's possible, but I'm not quite sure how one would go about doing it. ANY (and I mean ANY) info would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks.

Actually, I have a question. It's probably one that a few people are thinking, as well. Please could you tell us exactly why you want to do this, and what you hope to achieve?

It would really depend on what you mean by and what you are trying to accomplish with subliminal. The real studies [not the popular belief/rumour] suggest that subliminal messages work only alittle and only under very controlled situations. There is some work that's been done with the brainwave synchronizing [that came with my version of CEP] and subliminal messages that suggests that under the influence of both some of the messages could be effective. But most of this is pretty anecdotal.
You might want to check out the Monroe Institute they have a website, Monroe has done the most work on this kind of thing. However his 'subliminal messages' are very loud you can hear them most of the time [well I can, I have heard that other people can't -probably too much R&R]which suggests [pun intended] that it's more getting the subject into the proper 'state' that's important than the method of message reiteration.
Hope this helps alittle-j

I think a very basic way would be to simply record a vocal track and reverse it before the final mixdown. you did say "ANY INFO" would be helpful. Smile

Depending on the "subliminal" effect desired, there's a tool named "Brainwave Synchronizer" in CE.

This is to reply to any concerns about the reasons behind me wanting to learn how to create subliminal recordings.
They are for ME. I am trying to learn 2 more languages and was hoping to be able to use subliminal recordings to help me along.
An example being overlaying a language lesson on a song. So as I listen to the song I am also hearing the lesson subliminally . I know this all sounds strange.
For some people they really do work. It's just that the professional ones are to expensive, and of course I'd like the freedom to customize my own.
Finally, NO I'm not expecting to learn a language subliminally. I just want these recordings as teaching aids.

Thanks For Any Help.

Yeah, I'll admit to being slightly concerned, but the 'what do you hope to achieve?' bit was quite genuine. I've heard about people trying to learn in their sleep by similar methods, but the results were inconclusive, to say the least.

Hmm. As it happens, I did a post-graduate Diploma in Educational Technology, which is basically all about the psychology of learning. I seem to recall hearing (no cleansing here!) that people could repeat things they'd heard during 'sleep conditioning', but they found great difficulty in relating this stuff to anything else in their conscious minds, possibly perhaps because they received the information repeatedly when they were effectively not conscious.

So I'm not saying that it doesn't work, just that I'm not sure about the benefit, if any, of the results. Obviously worked wonders for you, though, nathan...:-)
