Downloaded the trial version of CE2000.
I am unable to download .cda files off of a music disk?
I can load and edit a .wav file just fine and am I correct that CE2000 does not handle .wma files from Windows Media Player.
Can download .cda into Windows Media Player which converts to a .wma file but when I download a .cda file directly from a disk there seems to be no file in CE2000?

I would appreciate any input as to what I may be missing?

Thanks in advance

The .cda file is only a pointer to the real file on the CD. Using CE2000, there is no way to directly access this, you'll need to use a third-party ripper (Exact Audio Copy is the ripper of choice in this community, it's free and it works very well).

I doubt if CE2000 knows anything about .wma files - the software is older than the format - although there might be a third-party extension around. Anyone?

I endorse Exact Audio Copy (EAC) as an excellent way of ripping CD tracks into your PC for editing in CE.

The address for downloading is: http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/

Yes, EAC is definitely a great product (and the price is right... a postcard). That said, alot of folks don't realize that the majority of CD burning software that comes packages with your CDRW has the same capabilities. Adaptec EZCD Creator does! As does Roxio and some of the others. Don't get me wrong, EAC is still probably "top of the heap", but you may possibly have the necessary means already on your computer. Shy

There's a replacement around for 'cdfs.vxd' which allows access to CD tracks as if they were files, but it can cause unpredicatable behaviour with the system in general (in my experience), so I'd endorse the EAC or CDex route (or whatever along those lines takes your fancy).
