Working on a sound-track for a short film. Had 2 files open (let's call them A and Untitled). "A" was the master file, and "Untitled" was the same file with random edits done on it.

Saved "A" and closed the "Untitled" file wihtout saving any changes.

Today I come back to audition file "A" and we hear "Untitled". The wave form that we see on the screen is "A", but the file we hear is "Untitled". If I zoom close enough, the file turns into "Untitled"-- Zoom out, it's "A" again.

If I delete the *.pk file, everything looks and sounds like "Untitled". I don't want that (near crying stages here).

Is there anything I can do that can possibly play what is showing through the *.pk file?

Hi trip, and welcome to the forum.

Hmm.
This doesn't really sound good, I'm afraid.

You should probably search through with the File>>Open dialog (check the Play box so you can hear each file) and see if you can actually find a file that matches what you think your original file sounded like.

It sounds to me as if you inadvertently saved your changes to the original file. That's the one you should have closed without saving, and done a "Save As" on the Untitled file to a new filename.

Sorry if you've lost your work... But this should point out the efficacy of copying entire projects to a new location and working on the copies, not the originals.

Best of luck with this, and do let us know how it turns out.
-Jon

Never the less, thank you for your quick response.

PS - a PVC pipe blew at my house, and now my backyards flooded. Not my day. Dead

It always sucks to hear of someone losing a file/work. As Jon alludes to.... it's always best work on copies, and..... SAVE, SAVE and SAVE again! Shy

You have to save both of them as 2 different filenames if you want to have both of them later.
