First the clarification.
Somehow and I honestly don't know how, my audio record and playback is completely hosed on one machine. For instance,
1. if I record on WS-1, copy to disk and play on WS-2, the persons voice has somehow slowed down/low pitched.
2. If I record on WS-2, copy to disk and play on WS-1, the persons voice is now fast/high pitched.
3. If I record AND playback on WS-1, everything sounds OK.
The OS is Windows 2k
PC is IBM Netvista with AC97 on board sound drivers/mixer
I have been all through the device config dialog boxes trying to figure this one out. I know it worked at one time in the not too distant past. The only software loaded onto WS-1 that I can think of was a game, Medal Of Honor - Allied Assault.
I am not a newbie to computers, but I am admittedly stumped by this.
Thanks for your help

Hmm.... So, you're sure you've recorded and played back at the same sample rate? Just a thought....
Best... -Jon

I think jonrose is on the right track. One of these machines has had its audiocard clock rate hijacked by another application and has failed to reset itself for some reason.
Personally, I'd first be looking at the machine which had the game installed on it.

Physically turn your computer off and after a moments pause, restart it?

Turning the system off has been done. I notice the problem a little over a week ago. I was testing another audio program and thought that it was a bug in the application.
I suppose I could try reloading the drivers for the AC97 audio device.

Thanks for the suggestions. The "quick" solution turned out to be....reload audio drivers.
Thanks Again.
