I've had the FXpansion VST wrapper for years and it has worked fine. Cake sent the latest version (they bought out FXpansion's wrapper) and now CEP (and SF) lock up when I cancel or quit a VST plug-in. Anyone else having this problem? (when I go back to the older wrapper [which I was going to delete...whew], everything works fine)
Take care

Hi rjt,
I have the same problem with the VST Adapter I recently purchased and downloaded from the Cakewalk web site. It blows away CEP 2.1, Sound Forge 6.e, and Magix audio cleaner 3.0. I get a stack trace with CWVST.DLL (Cakewalk VST) sitting at the top !
I've reported the problem to Cakewalk, Sonic Foundry and Syntrillium under the fantasy that they will all work together to analyze the problem for their paying customers.
So far Sonic Foundry has made an insulting response of stating they do not support VST plugins. Syntrillium is apparantly too busy with the buyout (for this and my Ionizer bug). Cakewalk (who rightfully own the problem) mentioned they are working on it.
I'm going to keep pounding Cakewalk (not too hard because SONAR 2.1 keeps walking while current versions of SF and CEP crash) to fix this. VST Adapter doesn't have a problem in SONAR though...
There is another minor VST Adapter bug in that the Voxengo plugins which install into seperate directories under /Steinberg/vstplugins must all have their *.dll files moved to a single directory otherwise I can only see 2 plugins. I've reported this to Cakewalk and they will look into that also. Hopefully Cakewalk obtained some development expertise for the VST adapter product they picked up.

I and several others also reported it to Cakewalk and I do hope they fix it. In the meantime, I am using the old FXpansion 4.1, which worked fine.

Does anyone know how well the VST adapter works with CEP 1.2?

The upgrade seems to work with CE2K without problems. However, like you all, I have had to remove it and return to the earlier version as CEP 2.1 crashes. I have reported this to Cakewalk. So far no reply.

Hoping that a "grass roots" effort may get them to fix it and they don't take the stand... "well, it works in cakewalk products". I liked (and like) using VST plug-ins in CEP!
