Any views on Izotope Trash, anyone ?
Should I get it ?
Is it worth the money or just more of the same ? (I also have a Line 6 Pod)

Hi mono. Well, I don't think that 'Trash' is intended to replace the POD...
I will say that it's got some great 'trashy', low-fi, spacey, and vintage amp models and can do some really cool effects, especially for guitar and bass.
Also, they've got some great amp/cab presets that simulate some very popular tones, such as Paul McCartney's Bass (from Sgt. Pepper) and of course, some vintage Jimi. There are more, but I can't remember off the top of my head.
Quite simply, iZotope's a great company, and they make some great plugins.

I've been trying out the demo, and I'm probably going to buy it anyway. I have Ozone and Izotope is indeed a very nice company.
I'm just interested in other peoples opinions about this plug-in.

There's some usable things in there. For anyone who is a prior iZotope customer, a discount was offered - but I couldn't see spending full boat for the plug. At least, not for what I'd be doing with it. Others might justify the cost by being able to utilize more of its capabilities.
Well, that's a bit of silly question, really, isn't it?
Your purchases would be entirely your decision.

More of the same what? As the M.D. already noted, it's not like using a Pod.

Well, then. I guess you've answered your own question #2!
Heh-heh!

In which case, you received a discount offer.
And yes, they certainly are great people to work with. Justin was very helpful with regard to ironing out problems in Ozone 1.

Ah.... okay, then. You didn't really make that clear in your initial post, which sounded more as if you were looking for some justification for its purchase! (that's also the reason why I didn't answer this thread right away)
:)
Best... -Jon

I've "test driven" it a little and think it's pretty cool. I think it's worth the money, IF you have a use for it. FWIW, I don't have enough use for it to justify the expenditure. I use the AIPL WarmTone plug-in for when I need something of this nature.

I love it...but you could say I'm biased :-)
Just to share something fun, a Trash user sent us a link to this song he did when he first got it.
http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?PID=253288&P=1&T=3707
The impressive part I thought was that the only effect used on the
entire song was Trash. Everything from the guitars to the tape delay effect to the radio static in the beginning. So it can do Pod stuff if you want, but it can do a lot more too.
So I guess I'd agree that Trash is the sort of thing you either really need...or don't know what you'd do with it :-)
Anyhow, just wanted to let people know that we do lurk and listen to what Cool Edit users are doing. And the people at Syntrillium have been great at keeping us updated so we're always testing on all the current versions of Cool Edit. It's a great product.
If you want to, umm, talk Trash (or Ozone or anything else) don't hesitate to send an email. We love hearing from people even if we can't be on all the forums all the time.

I agree that Izotope is a good company to work with. I like Ozone and like Ozone2 even more. I bought Trash. I don't play guitar and have used Trash to add some dirt to synth leads and organ sounds. Will also try adding some of the tape saturation etc. So, as a general purpose distortion box, so far it has been fun.
Take Care
