i have a live setup with multiple synths and i am sending a stereo mix signal to record a stereo track in cool edit pro 2000. can anyone please tell me if i can record live through a say, limiter DX effect into CEP wet so i don't have to worry about clipping the recorded signal?

thanks a ton.

And... also quite simply, you'll need some kind of hardware limiter inline before most recorders in order to avoid clipping on the way in (exceptions being those with a compander built-in). Obviously, most audio cards won't have a limiter onboard. Leave yourself some headroom when recording without a limiter - this won't be nearly as much of a problem if you have a decent audio card, as you can literally compress it to death after the fact (on the computer) if you wish.

Best... -Jon
