something strange has happened all of a sudden tonight. i have had a registered paid version of cool edit 2000 for over a year and now all of a sudden i am getting the beeps and tones whenever i try to do any function even if it isnt a demo function. any ideas why? thanks

Probably a little file corruption somewhere - the only realistically workable solution to this is to uninstall CE2000 and the plugins, and do a clean reinstall. Assuming, that is, that you have kept all of the files (including the registration one) and details somewhere safe, like on a CD. If you haven't, you will need to contact Synt directly in order to re-register everything.

ive noticed now that it is only happening with one song i am working on. but i will try the reinstall.

Ermmm... this 'one song' wouldn't be something which you started working on before you registered the software, would it?
If so, maybe your unregistered noises are already in the file.

hmmm, good point, it is an older one. and this morning i worked on a few and there was no problem. it might have been something as easily as just having to reboot the machine

It should be easy enough to see if the 'beeps' are in the file. If they are, there's no way to get rid of them.
