Hellow!
A friend told me he downloaded Cool Edit Pro v2.55 from Kazaa...
That can't be true right? We'd be the first to know when a new version is released, right?

Well, I tried for myself, and wow... that's a lot of results!
But when I started downloading, my virusscanner gave a W32.Kwbot.C.Worm alert! Ha!

There's an old adage that holds true..... "There ain't nothing 'free' in this world". You want to download a free program? Well.... go ahead, but when you get a virus that literally takes your computer out of service, that's the "free" part. I just hope that anyone that is using this method to get a program for free that I paid for, enjoys putting their money (that they could have purchased the software with) back into their computers to get them up and running again!!

This is very odd behavior from someone who owns a record label!
Oy...

I've seen a reference to this (not in English however) on a virus monitoring site. Looks like someone is trying to wipe out the machines of anyone looking for a free copy of Cool Edit. Now who would do a thing like that? Anyone here? Surely not? ]:}

Sorry, what do you mean?
I tried to download it just because I was curious what the .exe file would contain, after M.D. ensured me it certainly wasn't a real update.
I agree with VoodooRadio.

Mr. Roger was good for saying things like this:
"Can you say "IP Address?""
"Can you say "Syntrillium Software Corp. has all the IP Addresses of all those who access and/or download from this site or the Loopology site, and know whether you have illegal copies of Syntrillium products or not?""
"I knew you could!" "I like the way you say that!" "Did you know that?"
Golly, I'm gonna miss Mr. Rogers.

That comment made me curious, so I did quick google search. I had no idea that he died... :O
Maybe with all of this internet time on my hands I should start checking out the news every once in awhile, eh?

Years ago, while in the military.... I had a friend you was from Blaunox (sp?) PA. It's north of Pittsburg and on the drive into Pittsburg we went through the Fox Chapel neighborhood. All multi-million dollars homes that just blow your mind. Well... probably one of the nicer homes belonged to..... (you guessed it).... Mr. Rogers. I imagine when you live like that, everydays a.. "wonderful day in the neighborhood"!! RIP sweater dude!!

"Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood" has been running on PBS television long enough that I grew up with it as a pre-schooler. A simple, sweet kind of TV that could only have come from an older generation--he was a genteel television grandfather to many young children.

Most people don't have static IP addresses so it doesn't make much difference for long term tracking. The only way any site would know is if their products "phoned home" by themselves which is pretty much like spyware.
