i want to know if it is possible to use the effects or something too isolate the bass portion of a song. i just want to listen to the BASS portion of the song

Hopefully you have read 'Vocal removal or Instrument removal' which applies, generally, to removing anything (or keeping anything) from a stereo recording.
However, in the case of bass, you may be able to filter out much of what isn't the bass by using graphic eq or parametric eq, or one of the other filters - give it a try.

As ozpeter said, look in filter FFT 'only the subwoofer'. It functions beautifully.
