Hello,

I'm trying to get a submix of my drums tracks and for the life of me I can't figure out how to select the desired tracks.

Could someone give me a hand?

Thanks,
Rusty K

if i'm reading this correctly, simply click on the "s" on the track controls. ctrl-click if you want more than one track selected together.

twright,

Thanks....but I'm not sure? I was just able to get a submix of my drum tracks by right click+Ctrl but It's caused two more questions to pop up.

1. It mixed them to 16bit. Since I have a 24bit soundcard and since the track is going right back into the mix is it better to choose the 32bit mixdown option or, in other words, do I loose any fidelity/data by reconverting back to 24bit before putting the track back in the mix?

2. Why was my mixdown @15db quieter than the tracks they were mixed from? It seems only logical that at 0db I should get the exact mix/volume for each track. What am I doing wrong?

Hi there,

To the original question ctrl+click each track you want included then "edit"/"mixdown selected tracks" et voila (that's French)

To question 1 - do EVERYTHING at 32 bit until you are ready to burn to CD then take it down to 16 bit. CEP processes internally at 32 bit and this way you ensure the best possible quality all the way through the mixing process.

Question 2 no idea :D

I'll take a stab at 3.... Were you by chance using Volume Envelope editing. The reason I ask, is I had the same situation once and I had gotten a "rough mix" (volume wise) drawing volume changes in using the envelopes. Later, when revisiting the session, I mixed some things down and discovered the same thing... (quiter). Upon further investigating, I found that I had disabled "show envelopes" before closing the session the time before AND saved the session. When I opened it later, the evelopes weren't "in view" and I didn't realize (remember) that I had drawn some volume changes in. Well.... that's my stab! And, if it's not even close... disregard! Approve

Thanks folks,

Ok my submix was a right click + ctrl. This may explain the @15db cut.

I worked around the submix question by using vol. envelopes to take parts out on the individual tracks. It was more time consuming but it worked. I do want to get the submix thing down though.

Mark T...thanks I'll keep it 32bit till final mixdown.
