Everone know about those 2 light blue colored lines that are at the edges of the top and bottom of the Left and Right audio channels? How could you either cut off samples that reach over those lines or compact the audio so that it never goes over that point? Becuase I've sort isolated the cliping problem with a peice of audio to this.

And I've noticed that tracks never reach over these lines, hence no clipping!Smile How can I do it?

Firstly, if you don't want to "exceed" a certain db level, don't record the signal so "hot" so as it exceeds your predetermined level. If after you've recorded something, it exceeds (again) your preconceived notice of where you want the level, then use the Hard Limiting function and "whack it off". (At this point I must insert my disclaimer) "Whacking off" is not recommended for various reasons!! Shy

Once you've clipped the audio at input, there's only Effects > Noise Reduction > Clip restoration to help you - possibly. As VoodooRadio says, don't clip it in the first place. BTW you can alter the placement of the lines you refer to in Options > Settings > Display > Display lines at... - but they only display, they don't limit.

It's at this page of the site as an add on for CE2K.

Thanks for providing the link Oz! I wasn't thinking about Stargazer's admission of using CE2000. But... I must reiterate, I don't suggest hard limiting as a solution. It will stop to level at a pre-determined limit, but Stargazer NEEDS to address his/her track recording levels at the proper stage of the process.... while recording! Shy

Ok was I'm trying to do is put SPC files into regular audio CD's SPC files are a format of video game music. I use winamp to convert them to wav, because it's the only player I know of that has a plugin to play these types of files and convert them to wav.

When I'm changing them to wav files I always select the defaults. Format: PCM Attributes 44.100 khz, 16 bit, Stereo 172/sec, think those are the defaults..? Anyway the clipping problem may just be impossible to get rid of. I may just be dealing with audio that was never meant to be anymore than what it is.
